About NASA
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the United States’ civil space agency. Today most NASA payloads launch on commercial rockets — crew and cargo to the International Space Station fly on SpaceX Falcon 9, and science missions launch on Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and ULA Vulcan. NASA’s own Space Launch System flies the Artemis missions toward the Moon.
NASA launches mostly from Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral in Florida, with some missions from Vandenberg in California and Wallops in Virginia. High-profile crewed and lunar launches draw large crowds to Florida’s Space Coast.
