About United Launch Alliance

United Launch Alliance (ULA) formed in 2006 and has launched many of the United States’ most important national-security, science, and exploration payloads. Its Atlas V has one of the strongest reliability records in launch history and is now winding down, while the new Vulcan Centaur takes over as ULA’s primary rocket.

ULA launches from Cape Canaveral in Florida and Vandenberg in California. Because its missions are often high-value government payloads, they tend to be scheduled well in advance, which makes them easier to plan a viewing trip around than the fast-moving commercial cadence.
