Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information LookToSpace collects when you use looktospace.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data. We have written it in plain English so you can actually read it.

What Data We Collect

We collect only what we need to operate the service. Here is what that looks like in practice.

  • Email address: collected when you create an account or sign up for launch alerts.
  • Location: entered by you to check launch visibility. We use it only for that calculation and do not store or track it beyond your session unless you save it to your account.
  • Display name: optional, set by you in your account profile.
  • Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, bank details, or billing address — Stripe does.
  • Usage data: anonymised page views and feature interactions collected via analytics tools to help us improve the site.

Why We Collect It

Your email address lets us send you launch alerts you have opted into, deliver account-related notifications, and respond to support requests. We do not send marketing email without your explicit consent.

Your location is used to calculate launch visibility distances and bearings. We do not build a profile of your movements or share your location with advertisers. If you save a home location to your account, it is stored so you do not have to re-enter it each visit.

Payment data flows directly to Stripe so we can process subscription fees. We retain only a record of the transaction (amount, date, and Stripe customer ID) for accounting and support purposes.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following services to operate LookToSpace. Each acts as a data processor under our instructions and is bound by appropriate data protection agreements.

  • Supabase: hosts our database and handles user authentication. Your account data lives here.
  • Stripe: processes all payments. Subject to PCI DSS compliance.
  • Resend: delivers transactional and alert emails on our behalf.
  • Vercel: hosts and serves the LookToSpace web application.
  • Open-Meteo: provides weather forecast data. No personal data is shared with Open-Meteo.
  • The Space Devs: provides launch schedule data via the Launch Library 2 API. No personal data is shared.
  • Analytics and error-monitoring providers: we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage and catch bugs. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.

Cookies

LookToSpace uses essential cookies required for the site to function (for example, to keep you logged in). We also use optional analytics cookies to understand how people use the site. A cookie consent banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies when you first visit. You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the site footer.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or accounting reasons (typically up to 7 years for transaction records).

Email alert subscriptions are deleted when you unsubscribe or delete your account. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data.

  • Access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: you can ask us to delete your personal data (the right to be forgotten).

  • Restriction: you can ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Objection: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Your Rights Under CCPA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.

LookToSpace does not sell personal data to third parties. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

How to Exercise Your Rights

Email us at hello@looktospace.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request. There is no charge for exercising your rights.

Children

LookToSpace is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

International Data Transfers

LookToSpace is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and stored in the US or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, including standard contractual clauses where required by EU law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
